Do most Americans know (or care) that Britain declared slavery illegal in 1772, 4 years before America became independent, while America continued to recognise slavery for almost a hundred years after?

The awareness of historical events, such as Britain's legal stance on slavery in 1772 and the timeline of slavery in America, can vary among Americans. While some individuals may be well-informed about these historical facts, others may not be aware of the specific details.

The awareness often depends on factors such as education, exposure to historical information, and personal interest in the subject. In recent years, there has been increased attention to the history of slavery, particularly in the United States, and efforts to include a more comprehensive understanding of this history in educational curricula.

It's essential to note that public awareness and attitudes toward historical events can evolve over time. Conversations about the history of slavery and its impact on societies continue to be important for fostering a better understanding of the past and addressing contemporary issues related to racial and social justice.
