How To Choose A Canadian Immigration Consultancy Specialist

By Tara Daniels

Canada is a parliamentary democracy country made up of ten provinces and three territories. Every year, many thousands of people immigrate to the country to become permanent residents or citizens. There are many reasons why people chose to immigrate there, including the low crime rates, strong economy and job opportunities. If you are interested in moving there, you may be interested in looking for Canadian immigration consultancy services.

You should note that there are numerous categories that a person can apply under. For people immigrating to work in the country, it is possible to apply as a temporary or permanent worker. There is also a family class in which spouses, common law partners and children can receive permanent residency. Refugees may also immigrate to Canada if they are stateless or fleeing persecution. Each situation has a separate application process which you must be aware of from the beginning.

Many workers come to the country and are granted work visas based on their educational level and special skills that are needed in the economy. There are many categories of work visas that the Government issues, such as temporary work visas, visas for live-in caregivers, and permanent worker visas. You can also gain a visa if you are a business person who must travel to the country to conduct business.

If you are a Canadian who is married to or in a long term relationship with a foreign national, then you may be able to bring your spouse or partner to the country to be with you. The application process is often quite lengthy and there are various application fees you must pay as well. However, once your spouse or partner is approved, they will have rights to live and work in the country, as well as receive health care benefits.

If you feel overwhelmed by this whole process, or do not fully understand the legal undertakings, you may be able to retain a consultant to help you. The consultant will answer any questions you may have while applying for permanent residency. Their function is to be your advocate should any immigration problems occur.

A consultant is often a qualified lawyer or notary who specializes in these matters. They handle the various requirements of your application and will intervene for you if any problems arise. However, if you wish to hire a consultant to help you, the Government will not give you special treatment, and your application will be treated the same as all other applications.

There are two main types of consultants or representatives that you can use, which are paid or unpaid representatives. Only certain people may receive fees or payment for their consultancy services. Lawyers and paralegals that are in good standing with a Canadian law society may charge for their services, and so can notaries and immigrations consultants who are in good standing with the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council. Therefore, when doing your search, it is best to check with these organizations for a list of reliable consultants.

If there is a member of your family or a close friend who knows about immigration law, then they may be very helpful to you without charging you. When you chose a Canadian immigration consultancy expert, make sure they are up to date with every recent change to the immigration law that may affect you.
