I've written previously about different strategies to find the perfect birthday present for your boyfriend. The strategies we've talked about include narrowing it down based on the the three basic categories of gifts, your relationship stage, and his personality. Today we're going to talk about another strategy for picking an appropriate present: the time of year.
Put yourself back 12 months and try to remember what things you wanted. Pretty different from today, right? That's because your motivations are hugely influenced by the external world. Around Easter and craving chocolates? Around summer and don't want anything more than that floral dress? It's not just good luck.
The first season we're going to discuss is Spring. Many people think that the new year is the time when most people begin new workout plans, resolutions and all, but it's actually not true. The good weather that comes with the Spring gets more people off the couch and into the gym than any other time of year. Encourage him to join the crowd with some new workout clothes or the P90X dvd set.
Summer: The season of music festivals! From Bonnaroo to Osheaga to Lollapalooza to Burning Man, summer is filled with incredible festivals full of amazing music. If you haven't been, the experience is something that can't quite be captured. Take him on a road trip to see some of your favorite bands and make memories that will last forever.
Next up is fall, the easiest season to shop for. If he's a sports fan, that is. Here's a tid-bit ladies: October is the one time in the entire year when every professional sport is playing simultaneously. Take advantage of it. Buy him some fan accessories to celebrate the upcoming NHL, NBA, or NFL season, or, if he's a baseball kind of guy, some World Series gear. Easy.
Last but not least comes winter. If you live in a snowy climate like me, there's only one thing going through your head from November to March - where is the sun!? Take him on a trip to somewhere warm and make memories along the way. I'm sure you won't mind a couple days of sun either, right?
