Procedures Involved In Making Pizza Dough

By Brian R

The process of making pizza dough is a rather simple one which can be completed successfully at home. Only a few procedures and steps must be followed. Ingredients needed include twenty grams of dry yeast, two cups of warm water, four cups of flour, two spoons olive oil and a bit of salt.

Dissolve all the yeast in the water in a big bowl. It should be left to stay in the water for five minutes. Collect all the other ingredients and mix well. Make use of your hand or a motorized mixer running at minimal speeds until everything is mixed together. Knead the mixture with the use of your hands. A mixture hook can alternatively be made use of but it should be run at minimal speeds for ten minutes. To make sure the process is complete, the mixture has be smooth and flexible.

Grease a separate bowl using olive oil. You can now use the oil in the bowl to grease the mixture as well then wrap it up with plastic wrap and put it somewhere warm so that the flour may rise. Leave it in the warm place for about an hour or until it rises to twice the size it was before.

If you are using an oven that uses wood fire, light it up in advance. However if you are using an electric oven, turn it on to achieve temperatures of two hundred and fifty degrees Celsius. Baking stones on the other hand need heating for forty five minutes.

Using olive oil, smear then proceed to sprinkle corn meal on two level baking sheets. Split up the mixture into two halves. Form the two halves into balls and leave them for fifteen minutes. Using a surface that has been sprinkled with flour, stretch from the center to form two disks. Avoid rolling because this makes the mixture hard. Once this process is complete, everything can now be assembled.

To begin the assembly process, apply half a cup of chopped tomatoes onto the disks. Leave an inch of the rim bare with no sauce. Place the toppings then go ahead and bake. If you are baking using a stone with a peel used for baking, put some flour on the peel and slide it onto the peel. With the use of a deft yank, shift it on to the stone. The flour stops the mixture from sticking.

If you find that you do not have a peel, use a cookie sheet with a flat surface. Sprinkle it with flour. Afterwards, shift the baking from the work surface and put it on the stone. If a metallic baking pan is being used, use the lowest part of the oven to bake it.

For best results, use the lowest rack and let it bake for four minutes or until it has hardened enough to slide out of the pan. Put it on a rack to finish cooking. It is cooked when it is browned and toppings are cooked.

If you notice the mozzarella is browning before the rest of the ingredients are ready to your satisfaction, next time include it once your pizza bakes for five minutes. Making pizza dough is a straightforward procedure. A bit of dedication is all that is required.
