The Employment Of The Orange T Shirt

By Ben Pate

When it comes to dangerous work situations like road works, construction, window washing and so forth, the presence of the orange t-shirts is not to be dismissed. It has been utilized specifically for the sake of safety. It assists in making the person visible and clearly seen especially in places where there is a high density of traffic and other dangerous situations of work. It is not a choice, but a requirement.

It has gone through many changes to this day. The changes referred to are the materials from which it is made. It is work-men's (and women's) gear and has therefore been in the business of catering to that need. It needs to be tough and durable and in many instances it needs to have reflective elements. Many manufacturers also have different types of materials they use for the t-shirts as well as the safety vests.

One element regarding the safety t-shirt is that of comfort. It is high priority as the workers often have to work long hours and will inevitably sweat a lot. With this particular make it is manufactured from a soft material that is moisture wicked at the same time. It simply means that it would draw the moisture away from the body and will keep the body cool in heat and warm in the cold. This material is therefore not the same as the others that are usually cotton or polyester.

It comes with the reflective bands and can also be worn instead of the vest. Orange is the color which is often chosen as it makes the person highly visible and safe as well. It is especially a necessity if they are working where there is a lot of traffic and dangerous situations.

Both of these elements are in line with the ANSI Class 2 and 3 laws for safety vests. The difference between the class 2 and 3 is the number of reflective bands. The class 2 has two reflective bands running down from the shoulders with one horizontal band and the class 3 has two horizontal bands. The latter is just another means of making the worker more visible and is therefore required for places where more visibility is necessary.

The fulfillment of these laws does not mean that you have to wear one that has the tape. You may want to wear an ordinary one (because of cost), but you will be required to wear either one of the class vests depending on the visibility required. However, you will need to layer your gear, though, so that you will not freeze or overheat.

Both of these can be purchased in long sleeved or short sleeved versions and different styles (as far as the neckline is concerned). With the normal one (and without the reflective band) you will have to wear a safety vest to comply with the law. The necessity is to wear the best gear when working in hazardous situations.
