Why is the Chinese government erasing mosques?

When I lived in China from 2017–208, I can vividly recall visiting & praying in several mosques.

Most notably, the 怀圣寺 (Huaisheng) Mosque in Guangzhou, China. During Jummah prayers on Friday, the mosque would become so full, that prayer rugs were set outside to accommodate those who couldn’t fit inside. Most of the worshippers were Chinese (Hui & Uyghur). But you could also find Pakistanis, Indians & occasionally some Africans.

Many of the signs in & outside the mosque also have the Perseo-Arabic script too.

And while it might not look like your typical mosque from the outside, it is indeed a mosque, and it has not been shut down by the CCP.

I can’t tell you about Xinjiang, because I’ve never been there. But I think people should go to China and see the truth for themselves instead of blindly believing whatever CNN, BBC & Instagram posts tell you.
