What is the easiest way to catch a liar?

Let me share my mother's trick. She is good at catching me, my sister, my father, and anyone who tries to manipulate her.

Here is an example:

Once, I didn't go to school and was chilling at my friend's place. So, after I went home, she somehow knew I hadn't attended the school that day.

Conversation between my mother and me;

Mom- So, how was your day today at school?

Me- Boring. I started making stories to make her believe that I was at school.

Mom- Staring straight into my eyes. No nodding, no humming, nothing.

Me- trying to look here and there while continuing to tell her what happened at school.

Mom- Still staring straight into my eyes.

Me- Hesitant to continue. Took a pause but continued speaking. After a while I started freaking out from inside. But still trying to maintain that confident look.

Mom- Still no expression.

She keeps giving a dead stare, till I give up or she makes me realize that she has caught me lying.

So the trick is…

Just keep staring straight into their eyes.

Cold, expressionless stare. Try not to blink. No humming sound, no nodding head. Just a bold stare.

They would fumble or stop speaking and ask you, “You think I am lying, right?” Answer nothing, keep quiet. They will probably stop speaking or start changing their story.
