Straight to the point, I like
that! The sin that can't be forgiven according to the Bible is what's often
called "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit."
Jesus talks about this in Matthew
12:31-32. He basically says that people can be forgiven for all sorts
of things, but not for blaspheming the Holy Spirit.
What's blasphemy against
the Holy Spirit? Well, that's a tricky one, and there was a debate
about it for centuries.
From my understanding, it’s not
just a slip of the tongue or an angry outburst. It's more about knowingly,
willingly, and persistently resisting God's truth and work in your
life, even when you know better. It's a serious hard-heartedness.
It's unforgivable not because God
won't forgive it, but because someone that set against God isn't likely to ask
for forgiveness. That's how I see it, anyway.
