I own some early Hongshan Jade artifacts which are dated reliably at 6,000 B.C. …. and therefore are earlier than Egyptian civilizations early artifacts by about 2,000 years.
Still, the question remains …. were the
population of Hongshan actually civilized? I think “Civil”-ized suggests
cities, or even interconnected cities, (plural) … so I’m not sure.
How about the Elamites in the South-East
Fertile Crescent …. Were they “civilized” about 1,000 years before the Ancient
Egyptians first began building their cities? Maybe. How about this Elamite
Temple Complex - at Chogha Zanbil, along the Eastern shores of the Persian
Gulf?
Hmmmm …. Was the Indus Valley folks building “civil” structures quite a long time before the Elanmites? Hard to say.
