Salma Hayek Wept Filming Her First Ever
Nude Scene
Salma Hayek revealed that she had a
difficult experience filming her first ever nude scene for her breakout role in
the 1993 film "Desperado," directed by Robert Rodriguez.
Speaking on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert
podcast, the actress shared that she was taken by surprise when she learned
about the sex scene with her co-star, Antonio Banderas, and had not been aware
of it beforehand.
“I was not letting go of the towel. They would
try to make me laugh. I would take it off for two seconds and start crying
again.”
When Salma Hayek found out that she would
be doing a nude scene in "Desperado," she was caught completely off
guard and started sobbing.
The idea of stripping down and baring it
all on screen made her afraid and uncertain if she could go through with it.
While her friendship with co-star Antonio Banderas was comforting, it also
added to her nerves.
Hayek recalls that Banderas was a gentleman
and very nice, but his ease with the scene contrasted with her fear, making her
feel more intimidated.
“He was an absolute gentleman and so nice,”
Hayek says, “but he was very free. It scared me that for him, it was like
nothing.”
