Guidelines For Choosing The Ideal Roach Control Products

By Brenda Warner

Living in a home infested by roaches can be a health hazard. The worst thing with cockroaches that feel at home is that they can be extremely hard to kick out. Even after taking a few stern measures to keep them at bay, a few of them may still keep you in company to feed on your crumbs after dinner and chew your wallpaper and books if your kitchen sink has nothing to offer. Finding a suitable product could make all the difference and save you from your nightmare once and for all. When searching for reliable roach control products, a few guidelines could be of assistance to you.

Normally, you would have a range of products from which to choose. From the many types of bait, traps, barriers and even insecticides available, you would need to choose something that works best for you. Cockroaches can transmit diseases and bacteria. It is also known that they could cause food poisoning. It would be imperative for you to begin your research as soon as possible.

One of the core things to consider is your household. If you have small children around, then perhaps insecticide sprays may not be the best option to go for. While it is possible that all you would be thinking about is how to break free from the chains of roaches, matters of safety must not be overlooked.

Regardless of the product you choose, there are certain ground rules that never change. What you may not know is that cockroaches stay for months without food. However, the lack of water for more than one week would kill them. If you have decided to use bait, ensure that there are no water leaks in your home. This would make the roaches more interested in feeding on your gel baits.

Even the finest product in the market may not be of much use to you if you ignore the importance of maintaining the highest possible standards of cleanliness. Roaches thrive in homes where food crumbs are always readily available. They also love grease and would therefore prefer living in the kitchen. Always clean your kitchen and empty your garbage bin before retiring for sleep. You should also ensure that food containers are sealed and your utensils and counters are clean.

Cockroach traps are not only safe, but also quite effective. They entice roaches and trap them with glue. When using traps it would make much sense to have several of them. Place them on different areas of concern, especially within the kitchen. The disadvantage of using traps is that they hardly affect the nest.

You can find numerous dependable insecticides from which you could choose. For family people, liquids, powders and gels are the best to go for. Smear your product on nests and also on areas where there is much roach traffic. In addition, smear some on secluded areas like wall cracks, vents and drains.

In seriously infested homes, the use of professional grade pesticides may be inevitable. This however should come as a last resort. Pesticides that contain Cypermethrin could enable you to eliminate your problem once and for all. Again, a lot of precaution would be necessary because strong pesticides could be harmful if swallowed.
