Factors When Choosing A Poultry Fountain

Pullet farming is the rearing of domesticated birds for the aim of getting meat and eggs. Chickens are the type of birds that are commonly reared. Chickens raised for meat are called broilers whereas those reared for eggs are referred to as layers. Poultry fountain are supposed to be fitted high enough from the ground.

All types of chickens require housing that will shield them from the adverse weather conditions such as rain and wind in order for them to survive. A chicken fountain will provides effective control for spread of diseases and also enables the handler to feed the pullets in a controlled manner. Poultry foundation should be well built and provide enough space for the chicken.

There are several types of systems found in the market, but to choose one that suits you best will largely depend on how many pullets are you planning for, the layout of your garden, where to keep your birds, supply of water and ascetics of your water feeder.

Benefit of using this system include, there is less wastage of water, the structure is keep dry for longer periods of time and less labor is required. When using water nipple system you benefit in the following ways, the system is still functional during winter seasons and you can easily access water for you to add medication. The system can be hooked up with a garden hose to refill automatically, in this system water does not run out, it does not stagnate, get warm or grow algae. They provide fresh, cold and clean supply of water.

These fountains are considered common and are mostly used by people who rear chicken in small scale. The systems can be bought at pet shops, at feed stores and at poultry suppliers. They mostly use force of gravity to allow water into trays. Once the chicken drink water they cause the water level in the tray to go down and automatically causing water to be released back to refill the tray again.

They have small surface area so the young chicks are safe from falling in them and drowning to death. There limitations are, if not fitted on a flat surface they can leak. They also get your chicken floor mucky and encourage growth of sediments.

They glass is durable because of its toughness, it is less expensive, they are readily available, these jars have multiple uses and lastly they cannot drown the chickens. But they have their limitations because they can only be used to feed small chicks.

Small sized hen farms do not require special layouts for the poultry houses since they usually have only one hen house on a farm. However, large and medium poultry farms must consider having specific layouts on their farms.

Most importantly, they should be located in areas with proper ventilation. The benefits of a poultry house are numerous. They include proper supervision of the poultry, protection of birds from harsh weather and they facilitate specific feeding of the birds in a controlled manner.

The strength of the groundwork is affected majorly by the soil on which the base sits. The soils beneath the groundwork and those in the vicinity of the structure have to be well drained and should be compact to ensure minimal compression due to the weight of the structure itself and the equipment that will be placed in the structure.
