Many pet owners are no more fans of these items to be worn by their pets than their pets themselves. They understand how uncomfortable this can be for pets and they want to make sure that they can do something that might avoid their pets from having to wear the cone of shame. There might be other ways that this is done so, it is good to explore these options well.

Of course, it cannot be discounted that this cone really does serve its purpose well. Considering how the pet is not able to access the area where the wound is located he cannot just go ahead and lick it off. Thus, he will not risk opening up the stitches and as a result, he gets to have a higher chance towards healing faster. Still, the cone can be a real discomfort to the pet.

Take the time to find out a lot of details about he possible options that you have. Remember, there are going to be a lot of items that may possibly take the place of this collar for you. You just need to take the time to look around and find out a what these alternatives are and see if one of them is actually going to work for your pet. Then, you can easily pick the one that would work best for your pet.

A good choice would be those blow up neck pillows. These are very similar as thew one that you buy at the airports that you can drape on your neck to make it easier for you to lean on your seat and get your neck some rest to avoid straining it too much. They can be used for the same purpose. Just make sure to find something that will help secure it in place.

There are ones that are made of paper too, you can choose to make these by yourself. However, you are advised to go for ones that are very durable so your pet is not going to end up tearing them in no time. This can be a good alternative so you can avoid having to spend a lot of money for buying an actual cone.

Other choices also include bandages, boxer shorts or those baby onesies. Bandages can be used to ensure that the wound is properly covered. This will help prevent the pet from reaching out to the area and licking it. Thus, you are confident that the would will not be reopened.
