What Is Business Or Commercial Insurance?

By Maryl Joop

There are two types of crop insurance. The first kind is called multi-peril crop insurance. It helps protect crop producers against the damaging effects of natural disasters like fire, insects, floods, drought, hail, freezes disease and wildlife. In addition, it can help them with the loss of revenue because of price declines. Crop insurance is both supported and regulated by the federal government and its policies are sold and serviced by non-government agencies.

The second type of crop insurance is crop-hail policies. They are not part of the federal crop insurance program, but rather are regulated by the states. Private insurance companies sell these policies. A large number of farmers purchase crop-hail coverage because hail can completely destroy a large part of a planted field while leaving the rest undamaged. In places where hail occurs often, farmers will purchase a crop-hail policy to protect especially their crops that produce high yields.

* Manufacture Products: Liability coverage is good to protect you in case a product that is developed ends up injuring or causing damage to clients. This may result in a class action lawsuit, but again the insurance protects the business.

The next question is how much coverage your business should have, and what is required for you to be able to adequately protect your investments. In many cases this is dictated by the landlord or vendors that own or are near your business. Generally this could mean that you setup a coverage that gives you one million dollars per occurrence of a lawsuit, and two million dollars aggregate.

How to Buy Crop Insurance

Building a farm from the ground up is something that should be rewarded in some fashion. With the tremendous cost associated with certain forms of liability a farm can assume being controlled by an insurance policy, the farmers themselves have the opportunity to put their establishment down the road towards growth. The farmers in question will be able to operate without the worry of being derailed by unforeseen expenses. This newly acquired peace of mind will allow the farmer to further any aspirations they have for their farm.
