Should I Pick That? A Low-Down On Property Management

By Franklin Skribbit

Making life decisions is tough for pretty much everyone. What car should I buy? Where should I move? What major should I pick? What career do I want? Which job should I apply for? Which person should I marry? These are all tough decisions that influence our day-to-day life in significant ways. Here is one example of how thinking through a big decision can help you choose the right path.

Our case study today will be investigating major/career in property management. Most kids growing up don't dream about becoming a property manager. Most of them don't even know what one is. In fact, most adults don't know exactly what they do.

What was this strange world, he wondered? How did he get here, and how did his images come to have the power to transport him? And though these questions were certainly important, he promptly forgot about them and began exploring the strange forest.

Within a few short minutes, Henry had seen thousands of different trees without a single repetition, some of the trees he recognized from home, some appeared to be from Dr. Seuss books, and some he had never heard of nor imagined. As he walked through the vast expanse of trees, Henry found himself more and more amazed and excited, at least for the first couple of hours, but as morning turned to afternoon turned to evening, turned to night, he found himself hungry and beginning to worry.

The searcher finds out that fresh out of college, most property management graduates typically get jobs starting around $44,000 per year. Over time, property managers can make well over $80,000 on average. They also find out the life can be frantic as a property manager. Depending on the position, little if any time can be guaranteed off. Crisis come at any time and have to be handled quickly. For some, that might sound stressful. For others, the prospect sounds exciting.

Still interested? At this point, it's time for our searcher to start looking for good programs, schools, and internships. Which universities specialize in property management? Whose graduates get the best jobs? What kinds of classes do they offer?

What background experience do the faculty members have? After answering these questions, this prospective student is well on his or her way to making a well-informed, relatively risk-free decision.

With a goal in mind, Henry was able to be much more engaged in his school work, and he began to doodle and note take much more effectively. Henry was now able to attend every class with purpose, and because of his purpose, he designed some of the best work that has ever been seen.
