Reasons To Use A Mole Trap

By Rachael Gutierrez

A lot of people spend some time in their garden, and a lot of them most probably had problems with moles. Moles have always terrified the people that are fond of gardening, and all this people can think about when they realize that moles are walking throughout the earth is how to stop them. Here is where a mole trap can be used.

Moles have always been a primary issue for gardeners. These are little grey rodents-like mammals. They are well known for the fact that they live underground. They travel by digging underground tunnels, and they rarely come to the surface from one of their dirt hills. They are almost never seen at the surface because these creatures are actually blind, and very sensitive to sunlight.

Many might not realize how destructive moles can be to a garden. However, once they are facing the problem themselves, they see that the holes that moles dig on their property are not only unaesthetic, but they cause the plants of the plants that are in your garden. Moles do not directly do that, but the thing is that whenever they dig below a plant, they get to their roots and they remove the earth from them. That makes them unable to feed, which ultimately leads to your plants' death.

However, before thinking of how to get rid of your moles, you have to assure that moles are the pests that trouble you. Although moles are the most common animals that deteriorate gardens, there are other similar creatures that might trick you into thinking that moles are the problem. Voles, pocket gophers, ground squirrels, all these animals can be found destroying gardens in search for food, and therefore, before thinking of how to get rid of your pests, discover exactly what species they are.

Once you are sure that moles cause your garden troubles, mole traps are exactly what you need. Traps are the most efficient ways of getting rid of your moles, as they ensure that once the animal has been caught, it cannot escape. It might seem complicated at the first sight, but do not be discouraged.

Some people are afraid to try and take the problem into their own hands, so they just let the moles be and hope that they will just go away soon. But one shouldn't rely on that. Until moles decide to leave your area, your garden is already completely destroyed, so the sooner you remove your pests, the better.

Thus, the best option that you have at your disposal are the traps. There are many brands, and each has its own instructions that once followed, the job is done in almost no time. Usually traps are placed by digging a dirt hill off and then positioned one by one in tunnels, one in each tunnel. That ensures that the mole has nowhere to go once it passes through that tunnel.

A mole trap is a piece of cake when it comes to setting it. Follow the instructions carefully, and just repeat the process until no more dirt hills can be found in your garden. Only when no more new holes appear in your garden should you stop setting the traps and get back to taking care of your mole-free garden.
