Mobile Marketing: The Sleeping Giant

By Manny Rutz

With smartphones everywhere there is no doubt that there are huge opportunities in the mobile marketing world, if you have a business is now easier than ever to connect with your customers using the mobile app world. But first you need to understand the many benefits of mobile marketing. Creating a mobile marketing campaign is something you really need to research before you take that big step for your business.

First things first, you need to identify what type of consumers you have and whether or not they would actually need a mobile app to connect with your business in a whole new level. Compile as much info as you can about your actual customers and use this information when the time comes to create the app.

Mobile platforms should drive visitors to your main site. You should use your mobile abilities to communicate with new and existing customers to entice them to come to your home base. Avoid developing an entire business around your mobile platform. Changes in your market will dictate changes in your customer base. You can gain or lose customers based on outside influences that you cannot control. Mobile is still an evolving market, so technology trends can shift the market rather quickly. Know this and account for it.

Understand the capabilities of smartphones and what consumers can't and can do when using apps. Remember a mobile app is completely different to a website so you must not use the same mentality when creating your mobile app. The more important thing to know is whether or not this app will benefit your customers. If you think it will then don't be afraid to get started and get to work.

A few years back creating an app was a nightmare, these days is fairly easy considering there are people who can create a professional looking app for your business for a few hundreds dollars. Remember that the way to set yourself apart from the competition is to have more and offer more than your competitors.
