Why Train Your Horse?

By Diane Grant

If you own a horse, horse training must happen or it can get very unpleasant habits under its belt and become unruly. They are naturally unruly just by nature, but if you want it to be able to be in shows for showing off its skills, it must know right from wrong in the socially accepted world.

These animals are very smart. If you tell them to go left, they will follow you as well as the right side. Leaning your body a certain way will show them. It is easy then for the process to work when you get physical because this is how animals learn and think.

Not all animals are like this. Many of them are more difficult to teach. It is a blessing to own one with the proper polocrosse equipment for horses. They are very pleasant, graceful creatures. They are soothing to be around and are fun to ride. Riding them is very therapeutic as you explore it. It is something you will probably never forget. It is unforgettable because you feel on top of the world when you ride them.

The veterinarian will need to make a visit on your farm or you must take it to the doctor directly. You must give the animal practice in loading into the trailer. If it does not know how to do this, it will be difficult to take it to these places. Show off what it knows by practicing this skill with it often.

Training is sometimes difficult. Do not be ashamed to ask for help if you need it. There are times to be humble enough to ask for help and there is nothing wrong with that. Do not get frustrated if you do not know what to do. It is okay.

It can also be from trying one solution after another with no breakthroughs. Remember to use what you know and try to form solutions as best as you can. Ask another trainer what they would do in a similar situation. They might tell you something that you never thought of.

If you are going to engage in horse training, do it with grace and patience. Do it mostly with patience towards yourself. If your pet is young, it may not have as many bad habits as an older one which will maybe have more issues. Be patient with yourself and the animal as you both grow together.
