The Possibility Of Same Sex Married Life

By Cathy Mercer

The same sex married life is slowly being welcomed in different societies around the world, especially in cultures that are open and embracing to individuality and true identity. Same sex marriage is also known as gay marriage where the couple has the similar gender identity, or what could be called biological sex. This notion is undergoing a lot of legalization processes and is slowly coming under way to success.

Several pros and cons weigh each other when it comes to gay marriage. The biggest issue that gays handle is the inequality they experience when they want to get married to their loved one. Everyone has the complete right to be with whomever they love. However, in some countries and states, only heterosexuals are legally allowed to proclaim and celebrate their relationships in marriage. This should not be the case because love and commitment is not limited to straight relationships.

Several benefits are given to straight couples that pertain to healthcare or insurance. These benefits should be easily translated to gay couples as well because it is their right to have access to these types of benefits, no matter what kind of marriage they are in. If homosexual marriages are not allowed in some states, their state takes from the couple these specific benefits.

Whatever values you can see in the society today is shaped by the people, and whatever values the society holds important also shape the people too. Institutions like marriage undergo a lot of changes, especially in the modern times where communication is instant, and understanding other cultures have become very important.

Denying people of their rights only means that they are being discriminated against. Discrimination is a serious issue that the state itself should not be practicing. Denying gay couples certain rights is putting them in the minority without much reason behind it. Everyone should be entitled to their rights and not be treated as inferiors.

If gay couples were allowed to marry, they would also have a much easier time adopting children who are in need of a loving home. This has been a long standing issue to many states where gay couples are not allowed to marry. Gay couples are fully capable of taking care of young kids and the sex orientation of a person does not determine if he or she will be a good parent or not.

Being able to commit to a long term relationship with someone adds to a person's long term life satisfaction and happiness. If gay couples are not allowed to celebrate their commitment to each other, this increases their chances of experiencing depression and withdrawals. Marriage provides happiness and stability to people, and gay people should be able to have this kind of satisfaction as well.

Besides, same sex married life could be very enjoyable for the couple because of the very essence of their relationship. Since they both are in the similar gender, they both know what each other wants. They have an idea of how the other must feel mainly because they have the similar biological sex.
