Annual Events at New York University

Whether you are attending as a student or someone attempting to find engaging entertainment you won?t find in a NY City hotel guide to the town, New York University has one or two annual events that you will look forward to year on year. They offer something for everyone while at the exact same time broadening your mind while having a great time. Check out any or all of these events and you'll enjoy what these New York University events have to give.

Strawberry Festival

The Strawberry Festival, now in it's 26th year, brings together scholars, faculty and staff to this enduring event every spring. Succulent food, live music, and carnival games are a part of the thrill of this yearly event. It also may include the longest strawberry shortcake in the world! The event is open to the general public and is continually held on La Guardia place, just to the south of Washington Park. This is undoubtedly one of the famous events at New York University you do not need to miss!

World Science Festival

The World Science Festival, hosted by New York University every June, brings a series of 50 activities and events over five days which feature sundry scientific disciplines ranging from astronomy to neuroscience, genetics to robotics. The best of scientific minds around the planet will be there to celebrate all angles of science. There will also be dance, music and the arts included to round out this festival. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Week

The once a year Martin Luther King Jr. celebration week celebrates Dr. King's visit to New York University on February. 10, 1961, by providing a weeklong schedule of special events and programs each Feb. A featured event is held at the Skirball Center for Performing Humanities, as well as guest lectures, panels and consultations on campus, art exhibitions and Week of Service volunteer possibilities. This contains the AMC (Administrative Management Council's) Bad Knitters and Cunning Crocheters workshop, which knits and crochets hats for and scarves for local seniors.
