Its not ideal to go to the market again and again in order to buy fresh oysters. Instead, you can use a couple of methods which will help you to keep them sea fresh for a bit longer than usual. Once should ensure safe transportation of such meat from market to the home as there are so many reasons of it going bad quickly.

You should use a ventilated box to store them and drape them nicely in a damp cold and wet cloth before putting in the box. You can also make the use of ice box but don't put too much ice in it as the melted ice could tamper the fresh taste and smell. Never put the new ones in freezer because the freezing process may hinder the quality of the product to a great extent.

Mostly people like to eat oysters in a raw form just from its own shell. This is the most convenient way of consuming and it doesn't require any sort of preparation at all. But there are some excellent recipes for cooking this extravagant seafood. It is used in many different stir fry recipes, stews, curries and grilled dishes.

For special occasions and parties you can buy the new ones from your fish monger or local market. Its better to ask them in advance so that they are able to sell you the new items freshly taken out from the sea. On the other hand if you have planned to prepare some kind of stew or other stir fry dish than its better to buy the economical ones because you just need plenty of oyster meat whether its in the shell or outside it.

When stored in suitable temperature oyster can be good to eat for maximum of seven days. After buying always clean them thoroughly and wash them if required. Put a wet cloth on top of the container so that they are able to breath and don't start to smell. Its better to keep them in the fridge as soon as you are done with cleaning.

You shouldn't let them sit for a longer period of time once you take them out of the fridge. They will go stale and their taste will not remain the same. Moreover, its good if there are no leftovers otherwise its not good to put them back in the fridge for storage purposes. The best thing is to eat them within a day once they are opened.

Although there are a number of food manufacturers who supply frozen forms of this seafood but you will never find the same raw and crunchy taste. Always buy the new ones from the market which guarantees their good flavor and sea freshness.

It can be concluded that fresh oysters can easily maintain their rawness for approximately a week's time and only in a situation where they are stored properly in a suitable environment. Its important to maintain a steady temperature control if you want to eat healthy seafood free of any harmful bacteria.
