Florida Criminal Records Database

By Claire Dowell

Florida Criminal Records are one of the public records that can be accessed by the local residents of Florida. The criminal files of the states are those that have been submitted by government agencies such as the police department and traffic department.

Usually these records are used when conducting a background check on certain individuals. However, it is because of this reason that some would have difficulties landing a good job especially they have previous criminal records. Employers nowadays conduct a background check on their employees as well applicants. They do this to ensure that the people who work for them have clean records and are qualified for the job.

To avoid having difficulties with job applications, some would prefer to expunge their criminal files. Expunging a record means that the criminal file has been hidden from the public. If the record has not been hidden, one can find the details about the crimes committed. The personal details of the convicted individual are found on the record. Such information includes the real name, the birth date, the address and body marking of the individual. How, when and where the individual has been convicted are indicated on the criminal file. The charges and the sentence that has been given to the convicted person are also found on the file.

Criminal files come in different types of documents depending on the office who issues the report and the type of incident that took place. If the convicted individual has been arrested, an arrest record is made right away. Police blotters and reports are documented as police records. Heavy crimes which have severe charges and sentences are filed as criminal records. When planning to request any of the files, one has to be able to provide the basic requirements in obtaining public documents such as a valid identification card.

One can get a copy of a criminal record at any of the law enforcing agencies of the state such as the Police department. These enforcing agencies usually have recent records. For older or archived files, the office of the Department of Justice manages such documents. The retrieval of these files has been made easier with the help of technology.

Florida is one of the states that have utilized the Internet to manage information. With this, the government has developed an online database where criminal arrest records can be obtained without putting much effort into it. This system has helped many to get the needed document in a faster way. There is no need t go to a certain office to file the request. It is faster since it can be done anywhere that has Internet connection. It is because of the convenient it offers that many would prefer this option because of their busy schedules.
