Arizona Police Records Database

By Claire Dowell

The state of Arizona maintains a wide variety of criminal history profiles, conviction records, and arrest reports. The state's Department of Public Safety oversees several divisions and services, including the Criminal Investigation Division, the Highway Patrol Division, and the Technical Services Division. Its central repository of Arizona police records and other state documents are handled and disseminated by the Criminal Investigation Division. This is normally where individuals go if they wish to review their arrest histories and criminal profile.

Criminal record searches in the Arizona Department of Public Safety are done through a fingerprint-based search, since name-based searches are not available to the general public. Individuals who are interested in their own personal arrest report are required to request a Record Review Instruction Packet from the Department of Public Safety. The packet typically contains a fingerprint card, an application form, a pre-addressed envelope, and an instruction pamphlet that tells you how to properly complete the request form.

Since Arizona does not allow the public to access third party criminal records, there is a rule prohibiting anybody - except the criminal record owner - from viewing the dossier. Only authorized law enforcement entities, employers and employment agencies can be granted permission to obtain copies of other people's criminal records. Basic information that can be dissected from a criminal background check include arrest histories (for felony and misdemeanor cases), for conviction, and for domestic violence incidences.

In addition to the previously mentioned state sanctioned services and divisions, the Arizona Department of Public Safety also administers the Criminal History Records Section, which was officially established in 1969. This office's main responsibility, apart from managing the state's criminal reports and arrest profiles, is to consolidate the tasks of several law enforcement agencies: the Narcotics Division of the Department of Law, the Arizona Highway Patrol, and the Department of Liquor Licenses and Control. Moreover, the office is also tasked to educate the general public in the matters of public safety and the implementation and enforcement of state laws.

You may also request for an employment background check; although you'll have to be an approved and authorized employment agency or employer to do such thing. Additionally, the state's Department of Public Safety offers fingerprinting services and hand out clearance letters and national clearance and check services. All the records you will find in the said office are group accordingly: public record offenses, Arizona background checks by means of criminal history records, and public safety department records.

On the other hand, if you want a more practical way to access criminal history profiles and arrest reports, a variety of commercial criminal record search services are available online. There is no red tape or bureaucracies and no processing period, just a straightforward criminal background check service. Accessing public police records will only take a few short minutes to register and a one-time fee. After that, you are free to perform as many background checks as you like. Just enter the name of the individual you wish to check, and the state. Accurate and up-to-date data is guaranteed.
