What Mexican Food Catering Can Offer You

By Darcy Deleo

Mexican food catering has a wide variety of food that people from various parts of the world enjoy. The cuisine is complex and resembles those of China, France and Turkey. Since they have a relationship with Spain, it is not surprising to see some of their meals having the same characteristics. Mexico cuisine uses native ingredients such as tomatoes, squashes, cocoa, vanilla, avocados and some edible flowers. Items from Europe found in their cuisine include guava, pineapple and some other tropical fruits. These delicious meals are found in most parts of Mexico including Pomona.

Mexican restaurants Pomona have different types of traditional main dishes, traditional side dishes, traditional salsas and condiments, tortillas and breads and traditional desserts. Examples of the main dishes include tamales, birria, chile colorado, menudo, chile verde and picadillo. Birria is made with beef, veal, goat or pork.

The side dishes include Spanish rice, black beans and refried beans. It takes about two hours and 45 minutes to make refried beans. Ingredients in making refried beans include serrano chile, uncooked pinto beans, bacon drippings, garlic powder and salt.

Traditional salsas and condiments are used to improve the taste and color of the food. Some of the most common ones include salsa picante, black bean, basic salsa, salsa verde (or green salsa) and corn salsa. Items used in making salsa verde include tomatillos, white onion, garlic, vegetable oil, lime juice, jalapeno and green chiles. You can also use yellow onion if the white one is not available. Green salsa is different from the regular salsa because there are no tomatillos in the regular ones.

The traditional tortillas and breads are baked and grilled foods. Some types available in most Pomona restaurants include bolillos, mollette, sopes, corn tortillas and flour tortillas. These foods are usually taken with other favorite meals. Tortillas is made with flour, vegetable oil and baking powder. If you want to make tortillas, you have to learn how to prepare the dough first. The dough is made by whisking the mixture of flour, baking powder and oil.

The traditional desserts include Pastel de Tres Leches, capirotada, creamy flan and Cajeta. Cajeta (milk candy) is prepared with cow milk, goat milk, sugar, cinnamon and corn starch. Other dessert recipes include boca negra mini cakes and chocolate sauce.

Mexican food catering provides something nutritious and tasty. They are not difficult to prepare though you may need some teaching and experience to handle them well. Depending on your taste, you may even find the addition of one or two other ingredients helpful. Dishes from Mexico are enjoyable and served even outside the country.
