A glimpse at the Queen Anne's Revenge from Lego

By Clelia Lucci

On the subject of kids toys and puzzles, LEGO is undoubtedly a brand that ring bells; since 1949 they've provided numerous children across the world with the opportunity to let their mind run wild with colourful iconic blocks of many sizes, forms and colors.

Luckily for us, the Danish manufacturer has successfully passed the test of time and even today they're a large participant within the children's toy market, and among their hottest sets being the LEGO 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge. In brief, it is basically a LEGO set built to mirror the legendary ship from Pirates of the Caribbean and it comes added with Blackbeard, Jack Sparrow, Angelica, the quartermaster as well as two pirate miniatures.

This set features :

- 1097 pieces in total. - The set features a ship with large sails, spectacular fire lanterns, and canons. - Characters consist of: Jack Sparrow, Angelica, Blackbeard, chef two pirate figures. - Detachable captain's quarters.

To start things off, it ought to be noted that LEGO is definitely known for the caliber of their ship sets, and this one is clearly no different. Each of the pieces are manufactured from high quality materials, plus the little plastic blocks are seemingly unbreakable as they always were.

Probably one of the most attractive aspects of LEGO is the fact that you are certainly not required to refer to the instructions and can easily develop a little something of your own. Offering more than a thousand blocks, the LEGO 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge most certainly will give you the freedom to bring the story of Blackbeard and Jack Sparrow to life as you see fit.

Individuals who want to create the ship the actual way it was intended to be built will probably be relieved to learn that you have seven different bags ideally labelled 1 through 7, each one of them coming with specific details. If you aren't searching for something too difficult, this may be the perfect fit. Of course, you can always make the process difficult by disregarding the instructions and simply mixing up all the pieces; so you are really the one deciding how challenging the whole process is going to be.

Though as unique and appealing this set is, it's not necessarily a perfect kids toy. The thing is that, even though each piece is individually made from quality materials, the entire process of assembly can become frustrating from time to time since there are some pieces which don't hold together very tightly and are easily disconnected. Now this could be very tricky if the kid thinks it's some indestructible ship, and it requires time to rebuild it if it gets deconstructed (possibly not a good thing when kids become impatient). This especially goes for the masts as they can come off very easily, in addition to the captain's deck being somewhat weak.

In general, it's only honest to state that LEGO has done a tremedous task with detailing this gorgeous set. It's definitely a spectacular looking ship and is really a great present for practically anyone (not just kids). While it is true that the set comes with some slight drawbacks, we still still find it worthy of purchasing regardless if you are seeking to have Blackbeard's ship displayed in your house or just looking to have fun with letting ideas go wild on a thousand LEGO pieces.
