Steel Balustrades And Handrails: Wooden Or Stainless Steel Balustrading?

By Arthur Laslow

Whether you are focused on a commercial or industrial setting, choosing modular balustrades can prove to be one of the best investments many people can make. These specialized railings not only are incredibly safe, but they add a great deal of style to whatever location they are in. Many people are beginning to invest in handrails and modular balustrades, not just for commercial safety purposes, but also to add aesthetic appeal.

This is a huge advancement when you initiate a comparison between the origins of hand railings and its present condition. There used to be a time when handrails had no aesthetic feel to it and only had a functional purpose. Today, on the other hand, contractors and architects can enhance the look of buildings solely by the installation of beautiful hand railings.

The use of wood has reduced in manufacturing of steel balustrades and handrails. People have become aware about saving the environment, and therefore, the use of wood is frowned upon by some people. Stainless steel balusters are uprights, constructed of iron and used to support railings, such as the rail on a banister. While balusters can be composed of other materials such as wood or concrete, stainless steel is often a great way to add a decorative touch, while retaining the vigour and support required to support the railing. Stainless steel balusters may be used in houses or for exterior areas.

One of the more widespread applications of stainless steel balusters has to do with the balconies. A series of thin stainless steel balusters can elegantly support a handrail as well as a bottom rail that outlines the edge of the balcony. The presence of these stainless steel balusters, as the connection between the two balcony rails, ensures that the balcony is safe, and it is possible to enjoy the exterior space without fear of falling off the balcony. Stainless steel balusters are a beautiful alternative to wooden balusters or spindles for the design of a stairway. Because the stainless steel balusters can be very plain or be moulded to curve or can have complex designs, the look is often outstanding and adds one more layer of texture to the stair area. The stainless steel balusters are also strong and are likely to need less maintenance than their wooden baluster.

Wrought handrails, again, have a stunning effect but they are very difficult to maintain along with being heavy and costly. If you do not want to spend too much money on hand rails, then you can install the ones made from stainless steel which will be relatively easy on your pocket. Another advantage of steel is that it is rust free and so it is a great option for outdoor railings. If budget is not a problem, then you can go fro wrought iron or custom made glass handrails which will impart a gracious look to your office or home. Finally, what you need to remember is that irrespective of the material that you choose, safety should be the primary concern behind the installation of hand rails.
