By Arthur Crandal

If you have suffered from warts you are keenly aware of how embarrassing the situation can be. For many who are just recently come across this condition it can be painful to discuss with others. Genital warts can lead to more serious illnesses in the future if it's not taken care of in a timely manner. Unfortunately the human papilloma virus is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases on the planet. There are more than 100 variations of HPV. It is useless to deny the situation in hope that it will go away because the virus is still active in your body. It is important to take steps to avoid flare-ups and remove genital warts when they develop.

Traditional procedures for genital wart removal consist of using liquid nitrogen (cryotherapy), CO2 laser surgery, or weekly doses of podophyllin. While these methods can be effective they are frequently painful, can have adverse side effects, or do not permanently eradicate the problem areas. In addition these techniques can require expensive doctor's appointments, and many visits.

Laser therapy and electrodessication are also being used currently as a means of removing warts quickly and safely from the genitals. You will have to get a medical consultation in order to participate in these programs. For many people facing sensitive situations, consulting physicians about this problem leads to fear and procrastination.

Loop electrosurgical excision procedure is another genital wart removal technique. The health care provider cuts the wart off the skin by using a sharp tool that has a loop design. Interferon injection may be preferred by some persons, as these have proved to be effective too, in the treatment of genital warts.

This method implies shots with chemical substances that boost the immune system. Interferon shots are chosen by the health care provider when all the other treatment methods fail to bring any satisfactory results. By injecting interferons into the warts, the immune system gets improved and is finally able to fight the virus that provokes these small lesions. This type of treatment is usually performed after electro cauterization. The duration of the treatment is of several weeks if the shots are done 3 times weekly.
