Women's Hair Loss - Did You Know These Facts?

By Elena Lopes

The reasons for male hair loss are well-documented. Women are just as susceptible to hair loss as men. It is believed by some researchers that women can be even more prone to hair loss. What are the reasons for more attention paid to hair loss in men than it is for women? We cannot provide a good answer for that. However, we can go into some of the main reasons for hair loss suffered by women. If you are interested in learning more, all you have to do is keep reading!

You won't see many commercials on TV about female baldness. What is known at this point is there is more than one reason for a thinning hair condition seen in women. Continue reading to discover some of the reasons why a woman's hair may begin to thin.

You can say the distinction for women is that there's really no distinct pattern.

It's just like there is no real pattern because it's all over the top. Very many women suffer from anemia, and that will also cause hair loss. A high percentage of women will have mild cases of anemia due to their biological cycles. It's common for women's vitamin supplements to contain iron in higher than normal amounts to compensate and support higher than normal needs. There are known methods for treating a deficiency of iron in women, and that would be through diet and supplementation. Before you try to correct your iron deficiency on your own, you should talk to your doctor. Anemia can only be diagnosed with a blood test. Some people have it so severely that they need to treat it with medication. Always see your family doctor if you suspect something is wrong.

It is common with some chronic medical conditions for a woman to experience hair loss. It isn't so much the medical condition, itself, as it is due to the medication that is being taken for the condition. Sometimes the hair loss is the symptom that helps the doctor diagnose your illness. As you can imagine, very often the chronic illness will last forever and throughout the remainder of the person's life. These illnesses are not so much cured as they are maintained. The hair loss in these situations has to be accepted because very often times a particular medication has to be maintained and taken. As you may guess, talk to your doctor about any options you have about dealing with the cosmetic aspects of the hair loss.

However, for some women, there is an interruption of that cycle, and it's caused for genetic reasons. At this point there is no treatment of that condition. The good news is that it doesn't stop permanently (usually) it just gets put on hold from time to time. Sure, of course it's a source of embarrassment, but you can find support and means to effectively handle it. Women's hair loss does not get as much publicity as men's hair loss does. It's a fact that women experience this condition in equal numbers as men. What you've read, today, is just a few out of the many causes of hair loss in women. There are others, of course, but these are some of the most recognizable reasons that women lose their hair.
