3 Supplements That Improve Men's Health

By Marilyn Millbank

Whether you lead an active lifestyle or work at a more sedentary pace, all men need to make sure that they get enough of certain minerals and vitamins. If possible, try to get as much of your nutrients from food, but make sure you have enough of the following items in your diet.

Calcium is an important mineral for both women and men. Most men should make sure they are taking in between 1,000 and 1,200 mg of calcium. This is especially true once you hit your 50s, when bone density begins to break down. While getting enough is important, too much calcium can put you in a higher risk for prostate cancer.

Vitamin D is also important for excellent help. We do take in Vitamin D from exposure to sunlight, but so many of us avoid the sun these days either because of our work schedule or because we want to prevent skin cancer. Taking a supplement of Vitamin D has been shown to improve our immune system and improve bone strength.

We hear about its benefit to fight the common cold, but surprisingly few of us actually get enough Vitamin C. The recommended dosage of this helpful immunity builder is at least 90 mg per day for men, however some health experts believe higher doses can ward off a variety of diseases.

With so many worries about pollution and, these days, radiation, it also is wise to take a supplement that will cleanse the body of these harmful elements. Zeolites are just such a product. Zeolites are a naturally occurring mineral with a complex structure that actual attracts and absorbs all types of heavy metals and toxins in your body and then flushes them out of your system.

When you begin taking zeolites, consider taking one teaspoon per day for the first month as an initial cleanse. After that, one teaspoon per week is fine. Zeolites can be mixed with water or added to juice or smoothies. Those who take zeolites have reported a variety of benefits, and this special mineral has been shown to reduce diabetes, promote the health of the heart, liver and kidneys, combat neurological disorders and help with many other health issues.

When choosing what foods and supplements you want to add to your diet, be sure to consult with a health professional. There may be medical concerns that make it unwise to add a certain supplement to your diet.
