Using Light Bulbs Around The House

By Pedro Strovalinski

Today we are surrounded by electrical devices of all kinds. Our lives were changed significantly by the discovery of electricity and all that it could do for us. The most illuminating discovery of the 19th century was light bulbs. The bulb has taken the world by storm ever since Thomas Edison invented it in the late 1800s. He may not have been the first to try lighting our world with this kind of illuminating lamp but he was the first to get it right.

Electricity is used to heat a thin strip of filament or metal until it glows. The problem that most inventors back then came up on is that the filaments currently being used in incandescent lamps were much too bright for lighting just the rooms of a house. They were blinding, made for outside use in the pitch dark.

When the electric bulb was discovered, gas lamps were being used by most people. They were very determined to use what they had become accustomed to. Society sometimes takes a little time to get comfortable with new ideas. This was an incredible invention that changed the world completely. Its popularity began to grow and controversy arose over who could retain any rights to the industry.

There were many people who contributed to the different varieties of lighting options we have today. From colored to twisted, the bulb has become something of an art form in some ways. The glass can be blown to any shape imaginable and the elements can easily be added at a later time.

We use them for many different common household uses. They are used to light the kids rooms, the hallways, the foyers and the living rooms. We often buy special lamps that make the house look stylish and fashionable, equipping them with a bulb of a certain color, casting a luminous colored glow through the room. This gives the room a more comfortable feel.

The reason for softer lighting is to create a more comfortable and cozy atmosphere. It should not be used if the person is going to be reading or doing anything they need to see well for. The low wattages of 15 or 20 provide the softer lighting, while the higher wattages run at 75 or 100.

We can find light bulbs everywhere. They can be bought in bulk or in single packs and are sold in department stores, convenience stores, online and at the dollar store. The price tag changes from place to place but they are rarely expensive. With the invention of a bug repelling bulb, this invention just keeps expanding.
