A Homeopathic Remedy For Sinus Infection Includes Substances To Relieve Associated Pain

By Jesus Williamson

Like Cures Like is the motto in the world of homeopathic treatments. The theory is that elements producing symptoms similar to a disease can prevent the occurrence of it. As with all medical issues, use care in deciding what path to take. A Homeopathic Remedy For Sinus Infection can be very effective if approached carefully.

The premise that homeopathy is based on is that products made from the actual disease are called nosodes, and are considered preventive for the disease itself. If the disease develops, it is typically in a milder form. The potency of treatment should be higher for chronic or long term, illnesses and lower potencies for acute illnesses.

After suffering through the common cold, lingering congestion in the sinuses along with a yellowish or greenish mucus may be present. The infection causes inflamed sinuses and congestion that can be very painful. Other symptoms from the inflammation include headaches and pain in all areas of the face.

Use caution when treating with alternative remedies. Like all forms of medicine, the products can be poisonous if too strong. If you are new to this type of treatment, it is best to contact a homeopathic doctor for more information.

The ultimate goal is to reduce inflammation and to help the body eliminate the infection. An additional benefit is that the immune system is strengthened. After following the regimen for a few days with no improvement, contact a physician for follow up.

The most significant symptom is the mucus, usually a yellow or green, that is expelled from the nose. The other painful areas include headaches and pressure in the sinus areas.

A blend of three different substances is used for the treatment of a sinus infection, also called acute sinusitis. The substances are calcarea carbonica, hydrastis canadensis and kali bichromicum. A weak solution is administered.

Calcarea carbonica is also as calcium carbonate. It is the mineral found in seashells and is very similar to the calcium found in human bones. To obtain it, the white part of the mother of pearl layer of the oyster shell is separated, while the rest of the shell is discarded. It is then triturated, or ground, into a fine powder that is then mixed with lactose.

Golden seal, or hydrastis canadensis is considered poisonous but can help relax mucus membranes. It also is useful to help older patients feel like they are clear headed, and have sharpened wits.

Kali bichromicum is potassium dichromate and is produced chemically. It is used to eliminate headaches associated with sinusitis as well as earaches and catarrh. Catarrh is the inflammation of the mucous membrane.

Many different products can eliminate or reduce symptoms. If one product is not working the way you hoped, other products may give you the result you are looking for.

Silicea and spigelia are used if the pain is predominately on the right and left sides of the head, respectively. Mercurius helps infection that feels like it is centered around the teeth. Hepar sulphuricum helps to relieve pain lingering between the eyes.

A homeopathic remedy for sinus infection can be just what you are looking for. To get complete information, contact your family doctor or a homeopathic doctor. There are many online sources for a variety of information.
