5 Oral Health Products You Should Have

By Mark Tennison

The way to a healthy mouth and teeth are the right oral and dental hygiene and of course the proper use of oral health products. That is because a lot of people are always wanting, even to the point of dreaming, to have the whitest teeth and the freshest breath and yet they are neglecting even the most basic of oral care.

The key to better oral health is using the best products to keep your teeth and mouth clean. And when your mouth is clean then there will be less chances for bacteria to linger and cause major damage. There is also less chances for plaque to build up and start destroying your teeth.

I have listed below five of the common oral health products that we should all have in our homes. And certainly, these should be regularly used as well.

1. Use a fluoride toothpaste.

There are so many brands of toothpaste with so many ingredients advertised to give you whiter teeth and fresher breath. But the most important ingredient that you should look for in a toothpaste is fluoride. It is the substance that is responsible for making your teeth strong and healthy. And if you are wondering which one is better, gel or paste, the answer is neither. Both are equally effective in cleaning your teeth. It is just a matter of preference.

2. Use a comfortable toothbrush.

Of course if you have a toothpaste then you certainly need the right toothbrush to match with it. When choosing a toothbrush think more of your convenience and not just the price tag. The handle must be long enough to help you reach all areas in your mouth. The bristles must not be too hard because it can scratch your teeth. A toothbrush with a tongue cleaner is a bonus although not a necessity.

3. Buy a floss.

For sure, all Melbourne dentists would highly suggest that you get started with flossing right away. Flossing is very effective in removing the small bits of food that get stuck between the teeth. When those food scraps are just left there, bacteria would feed on it and thrive in your mouth. This in turn can cause dental caries as well as bad breath.

4. Use a mouth rinse.

A lot of people would rather use a mouthwash than any other dental product because it is very easy to use. All you have to do is gargle with it and you are all done. But using a mouth rinse is not enough and should not be seen as a replacement for regular brushing and flossing. However, it is effective in controlling the build up of bacteria, tartar, and plaque.

5. Buy a throat lozenge.

Do not think that just because it is meant to be used on the throat that it has nothing to do with proper oral care. While it does not directly affect the mouth and the teeth, a throat lozenge can help kill bacteria which in turn can cause bad breath.

There are other oral health products that you can buy and use but these five listed in this article are the must-haves. You must use them regularly and of course, you should always visit your dentists South Yarra to help you with your dental and oral hygiene.
