Are Flannel Sheets A Good Choice?

By Raven Ross

Do you prefer sleeping in thick and soft layers of cotton? If you are, you should probably look into some flannel sheets. These sheets help keep the heat in and, due to its bulky completeness, will probably hold out longer than muslin sheets.

You could probably compare the two sheets by the same criteria: thread count, construction, and variety of cotton. When comparing thread count, keep in mind that the more threads you use, the longer the sheets last.

The typical cotton could be used to produce decent, quality flannel sheets. If you are looking for some sheets made from Egyptian materials, you will most likely find a product much like a thicker spread of silk at an outrageous price.

Another important thing to remember while buying your sheets is that you have to feel the sheets before you buy it. Comfort is one of those things that can never be transferred into ink on paper.

General construction of sheets may have a huge impact on the total cost, perhaps even more than the material. It is best to find a multi-layered hem on the sheets you're purchasing, as you definitely don't want to see the edge.

One characteristic of a durable sheet or pillowcase is the edge. These edges should be 4"-5" to prevent wear and tear. Another characteristic would be the tags. These annoying tags could be replaced by stamped on logos, as in the case of the Luxury Comforter Sets.

Be aware of the designs on your sheets. While children's sheets are sketchy and colorful, adult sheets are plaid, colored, or printed. What you should watch out for is the way it is implemented. Printed designs are usually cheaper, but have a much lower quality standard, as it is printed on and not woven.

The final set to buying some respectable sheets for you would be to set a budget. Keep in mind the suggested budget of between 30 to 40 dollars. Anywhere in between would be great for purchasing some decent sheets from JC Penney.
