Does Taking A Coral Calcium Supplement Help You Lose Weight?

By Jacob Cordingley

Researchers have determined that people who are overweight in general have a far smaller amount of calcium in their diet than people who are of a healthy weight.

Anyone who is on a diet and eats the recommended daily amount or more of calcium tend to lose a lot more weight than those who eat smaller amounts. The weight loss also tends to be from particular parts of the body - primarily the stomach and waist area which is, interestingly, from where a large number of dieters desire to lose it.

Whilst this research is may be interesting, it is fair to say that no one truly knows why calcium and weight loss are linked. It does appear to be the case that there is indeed a connection. It seems that overweight individuals are not getting the required quantity of calcium that their bodies require.

Just what is going on here? Well, it is a well-known fact that when you do not eat enough, then your body attempts to compensate by saving and storing as much fat as possible. It also seems that it does the same if your intake of calcium is insufficient, no matter of how much, or indeed how little, food you're eating.

Researchers think that when you don't consume sufficient calcium it causes changes in the body's fat-storing profile as well as hormonal changes too, all of this results in you gaining weight.

But when you start to restore the body's calcium balance does your body start to reverse the fat storage allowing you to begin losing weight.

So ok, now you know that if you want to lose weight you need take on board the recommended day-to-day quantity of calcium. But that is merely part of the story. If your body doesn't absorb the calcium the right way, it won't matter how much you take.

So, how can you aid your body to absorb the calcium you feed it? Well, a well balanced vitamin intake is required. And the best vitamin for helping calcium absorption is vitamin D.

There is a form of calcium supplement that can be taken and is absorbed by the body more easily than others and that is coral calcium.

The added benefit of coral calcium is that it contains 73 trace elements and minerals that are important to your health.

There clearly does appear to be a link between calcium intake and weight loss and if you would prefer to take your calcium in supplement form, then there does appear to be possible benefits to taking coral calcium supplements.
