How to Buy the Perfect Washing Machine

By Martin Elmer

So, what is a washing machine? Basically it is just a water filed tub that shakes and spins to scrub the clothes and remove the water. Well, it is a little more complicated than that. Normally a washing machine has a large amount of functions and control; and something even an electronic timer.

You should clarify your needs, before you buy a new washing machine. You should consider different special program, if you often wash different sensitive fabrics like silk or wool. And if the amount of laundry and dirtiness varies, the same applies.

When buying a washing machine, you should not only focus on the price. The machine consumes a heavy amount of both water and energy. So you should aim for an energy-effective model; even though it might cost you a little more.

Buy a washing machine with a high capacity, if you have plenty of room and a large family. Often those machines are more solid constructed and also used semiprofessional. Just be sure that you can fill the machine almost every time; if not, it will cost you a lot of money.

You should consider an apartment-size washing machine, if your space is limited. You could also consider a top-loaded washing machine, because this type is normally easier to fit in.

The top-loaded type is not always the best choice. It uses 2-3 times more water than the front-loaded version. So not only do it use more water, there is also more heating to do. Another drawback is that it spins slower than the front-loaded, so the clothes need more time in the dryer.

When you are looking for a new washing machine, you should also think about the warranty. A washing machine has many moving part, so be sure that those are covered. You could also ask in the shop, if it is easy to replace spare parts.

To sum up; when buying a new washing machine, you should think about your need for functions, the capacity and the energy consumption. If you do so, you can find a washing machine that will suits your requirements perfectly.
