Measuring Your Bra Size

By Elle Ashley Love

Most women overlook the importance of finding out their actual bra size and end up with badly suited bras. A bra which is too tight or loose can cause uneasiness and in some cases serious circulation problems and other issues. You have to know that bras are meant to be comfortable and fit you well. Another result of a badly fitted bra is that it affects your appearance and posture, causing you to feel annoyed and distressed for the whole day. Let us have a look at some quick guides to measure your bra size.

Firstly measure your band size. The band size can be determined by measuring the perimeter of your chest. It has to be done as accurately as possible because it will affect the way the bra holds up. The best way to do it is to put a flexible tape tightly wrapped around your chest. It is preferable to do while wearing your bra and measure right beneath it. Your band size is then found out using a conversion table (or simply by asking a sales person).

The next thing is to determine your cup size. To do so, take measurements on the circumference of the highest point on your chest over your breasts. Following that, take away the band size from this measurement. Compare the result against a conversion table. In every inch difference, move up by a cup size starting from A. For example if the difference reads as 1 inch you need an A cup. For 2 inches you require a B cup and so onforth.

Regardless how accurately the measurement was taken, you should not take for granted that the bra will fit if it matches your size. You have to consider factors like the model, brands, purpose of a particular bra and also the material used. For example how some bras are made more elastic than others. However the measurements should be pretty accurate if you had done them correctly.

You really need to measure your bra size once a blue moon to upkeep your appearance for a long time. Now that you're aware how important your bra plays on the confidence level you feel for the day it's time to start choosing a comfortable bra.
