How to get Anonymous Access to Uncensored Newsgroups

By Stipe Bok

Besides discussions the Usenet is really popular for file downloads of all kinds these days. But the non-binary newsgroups are very helpful for getting information or support for a specific problem. In the biggest groups, which are called binary groups, you can find about any movie, picture, song or software you can think of.

NNTP short for "Network News Transfer Protocol" is widely used to transfer data inside newsgroups. The protocol is primarily used to read and post articles and also to synchronize data among the newsservers. The Internet application protocol was founded by Brian Kantor in 1986.

There are many different newsreaders which can be downloaded for free. Depending on your interests there are text newsreaders which are optimized for reading and posting in discussion groups. And there are binary newsreaders which are programmed to decode articles back to files which you can download from uncensored newsgroups.

If you're looking for binary content you have two options. Either you can download the headers from a newsgroup with the content of your interest or you can search for files in a uncensored binary search engine via your preferred web browser.

To find and download binary content from one of the many newsgroups which are provided you can either download the headers of each group with your binary newsreader or you're looking for a uncensored web based search engine to give you the desired results.

Most of the binary files are released in compressed rar or zip archives. Files which get too big get split up in many smaller rar parts. Winrar for instance can rejoin these parts to receive one file again.

Often your Internet service provider offers you free Usenet access. You can also find a lot of free newsgroups server online. Despite they offer the access unfortunately they're mainly only good for accessing discussion groups. They only offer a part of the existing newsgroups and censor all binary newsgroups. Apart from that they're really slow and you're not browsing the newsgroups anonymously.

Usenet provider can decide if they offer real anonymous access, completely uncensored newsgroups and if they allow you to post anonymously. If you're connected to a usenet server the provider may log your IP address and keep the log files of the articles and files you downloaded. Most of the news servers these days offer access on a secure base through SSL without any extra charge.
