How To Pick Flattering Eyeglasses Frames

By Adam Webster

There once was a time when eyeglasses frames had much the same shape and were anything but stylish. Those times have long since passed. The new frames that are on the market are not only fashionable, but some of them are actually glamorous.

Eyeglasses frames have surpassed the frames of past eras in the area of fashion and fit. They offer many different frames in a variety of shapes and colors. There are frames that have the names of some of our favorite name brand merchandise and celebrities and there are frames with images of endearing characters. Frames today definitely have a lot more to offer.

Picking a flattering frame

The most important thing to consider when you are picking out a frame is choosing one that is flattering to your face. Your eyeglasses are something that you have to wear on a daily basis and you will want a pair that looks good. There are many things to think about before choosing your frame.

Consider your face shape: The face of your shape is a major factor when determining the right frames for yourself. For people who have more squared off faces you will want to pick frames that are slim or stream lined. Diamond shaped faces will require a more dramatic shaped frame like the cat eyed ones. Rounded faces need glasses that make them appear more elongated in the facial area. If you are not sure about the shape of your face then your optician will be there to help you choose a flattering frame.

Complexion base color: Your base color should be a huge factor in deciding on the color of your eyeglasses. People with warmer toned skin will want to pick frames that are red or copper colored, and those with a cool base color will pick blue or purple. The spectrum goes from warm to cool and there are neutral colors in between.

The size: Never pick frames that are so large that they seem to overpower you. You will want to pick the ones that are the right scale for the size of your face and head.

Frame material: This is very important since you will want frames that don't feel too heavy or don't cause a reaction on your skin. There are several materials that are used to make up eyeglass frames. Nylon frames are great for young children since it is very hard to break them. If you want a frame that is more flexible then you may want to pick flexon frames. If you have lenses that will weight quite a bit then you will want titanium frames.

Hinge durability: You will no doubt take your eyeglasses off several times a day. This can lead to excess wear and tear on the hinges. Consequently, you will want to choose frames that have very durable hinges. A good way to judge hinge quality is to examine the maker of the frames. Frames that were made in Europe tend to have better quality hinges. After all, you want your glasses to last for a while.

Picking the right eyeglasses frames does not need to be a difficult decision. By simply following a few simple guidelines, you will be able to easily choose the frames that are right for you.
