Do Egyptian records mention the Israelites in Canaan?

 The Merneptah Stele, erected in 1208 BCE, makes a direct reference to Israel in its hieroglyphs.

It says “Israel is laid waste. His seed is no more”.

Presumably, it’s a reference to Canaanites - many of whom were already identifying as ‘Israelite’ - whose city-states were crushed by Pharaoh Merneptah’s campaigns in Southwestern Asia.
