Are the rituals of a Catholic Mass biblical?

There was a very well respected and devout Protestant biblical scholar who set out to write a book all about the Catholic Mass, with a view to enlightening Protestants and informing the poor ignorant Catholics of the errors of their ways.

Though he had vowed years earlier, never to enter a Catholic Church, he chose to witness first hand a Catholic Mass. He chose a church where he could sit discreetly in a back pew in order to take notes of what he actually witnessed and thus could credibly write about.

The Mass began, he was taken aback when everyone of the congregants stood as a mark of respect to the Good Book being carried elevated so every member could see it and it's significant place in the procession.

Dismissing it as a one -off “these Catholics are at least bound to get one thing right?” He thought.

He was surprised by the amount of the Mass that was scriptural, which he as a theologian recognised. Further taken aback when everyone stood to hear the Reading of the Gospel of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Further surprised how the Presbytrs Homily was accurately based on the scripture readings and psalm.

To cut a long story short, he had expected to see statue worship etc and was overwhelmed by how scripture focussed the Mass was. By the end of it, was shaking with unanticipated emotional joy. Dr Scott Hahn was so taken aback, he discussed what he had witnessed ‘first hand’ with his fellow academics at the University and how Spirit -filled the Mass was.

Cut the story short again, he attended Mass at other Catholic Churches incase what he had witnessed was just a one off fluke. Infact he learned over the weeks that what he witnessed on the first week was ‘the norm.’ He also noted that no-one in any Catholic Church worshipped statues, nor were ‘Mary’ focussed rather than Christ focussed, which was contrary to what he had expected.

Dr Scott Hahn had discussions with the clergy and decided to convert to the very faith he had once so despised, detested and thought abhorrent.

Today, Dr Scott Hahn is a Catholic Christian Evangelist, who has assisted in bringing home close to 1000-Protestant ordained ministers, many of who became Catholic priests and Rev'd Deacons.

These guys will have a greater understanding of sacred scripture than most of the rest of us and for whom sacred scripture is the epicentre. Is hardly likely they would have converted if they did not believe the Catholic Mass wasn't scriptural.
