How could Satan disobey Allah if Allah is all-powerful?

In Islamic theology, Allah (God) is indeed considered all-powerful, all-knowing, and absolutely sovereign. The concept of disobedience by Satan (Iblis) is addressed in the Quran, and it's important to understand the Islamic perspective on this matter.

According to Islamic teachings, Allah created angels, jinn, and humans. Angels are created from light and are inherently obedient to Allah's commands. Iblis, on the other hand, is among the jinn, a creation made from smokeless fire and possessing free will. Before the creation of humans, Iblis was a devout worshiper of Allah due to his piety. When Allah created Adam, the first human, Allah commanded the angels and Iblis to bow down to Adam out of reverence. The angels obeyed this command, but Iblis refused.

Iblis's refusal to bow down to Adam was an act of disobedience, driven by his pride and arrogance. In the Quran, Iblis expresses his disobedience:

Quran 7:12 (Surah Al-A'raf):

"[Allah] said, 'What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?' [Iblis] said, 'I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay.'"

Iblis's disobedience was not due to a lack of Allah's power but rather stemmed from Iblis's misuse of his free will and the arrogance that led him to consider himself superior to Adam. Allah's power is not limited, and the disobedience of creatures, whether jinn or humans, does not diminish Allah's sovereignty.

In Islamic theology, the story of Iblis serves as a lesson about the consequences of arrogance, disobedience, and the importance of submitting to the will of Allah. It emphasizes the accountability of creatures with free will and underscores the ultimate authority of Allah as the Creator and Sustainer.
