Make Sure You Get A Proper Challenger Rhd Conversion Done

By Katina Brady

The Dodge Challenger right hand drive conversion is becoming very popular but one needs to take care when changing it over. Any changes need to meet with specific requirements. When doing a Challenger rhd conversion and changing the wiper mechanism to the opposite side of the vehicle it needs to be done with meticulous care so to ensure that the original sweeping movement has not been changed and is still the same as was intended by the manufacturer.

Sometimes a whole new wiper scuttle will need to be made as there can be numerous modifications to do so that it will look like the original and work properly. An access point is made under the hood so as to enable one to have access when changing the pollen filter for the air conditioning system. The original pollen filter holder will be used and this will be able to be removed with no problem when needed. The panel that covers this opening is made of fibreglass.

The suspension has been re engineered to improve the handling as well as any avoidance manoeuvres one might need to make. The rear suspension has a five link and ensures a more comfortable ride because of the lower springs. This will ensure that the tires have better contact with the road and at the same time will help with the removal of road noise.

An extra heat proof shield can be made to provide a bit more insulation as well as using the original manufacturer's one. The engine will need to be completely removed as a complete modification of the bell housing needs to be done. The starter motor will also need to be moved to the other side to allow the steering intermediate shaft to come through.

In 1960 the Challenger was made and was said to be the equivalent of the Plymouth Barracuda and that this car was specifically made to compete against the Mustang. The Barracuda was the first of the sporty cars but was soon overtaken in just a few weeks. A few years later the Challenger was designed with a longer wheelbase, larger dimensions and was rated to be more luxurious. It was also more expensive but was aimed at the well-off younger buyers.

They all come standard with the steering wheel as well as the shift knob and seats that can be heated. There is a u-connect radio with audio jack as well as having a satellite radio installed. They all support a hands free communication system and six speakers with amplifier.

All of the original vents will be kept but the electrical systems will need to be changed. This is a fairly easy process to do and does not take up too much time. A complete new dash mould will need to be designed and then fitted as well.

It is always a good idea to take the car to a dealership whom is experienced in changing the challenger into a right hand drive conversion. They will ensure that every change made will be completed to the highest of standards possible. Each process will be explained before the changes are made.
