Proper Decorum In Sending Christmas Cards

By Belinda Norbert

The act of sending Christmas cards is a long-established custom for billions of Catholics all over the globe. Despite the fact that sending these Christmas cards is a free-wheeling procedure, it is highly recommended to comply with acknowledged standards in card-giving. You have the option to give away either generic or customized cards. This will depend on on the sender. The more vital thing is to keep clear of giving cards to people who do not celebrate Christmas at all. Likewise, the card should be suited to the person receiving the Christmas greetings.

Your first concern is to send the cards ahead of time. Avoid the Christmas dash or else there is a possibility that this will not reach the recipient promptly. Cards must reach the recipient by the middle of December but not too early. For this reason, send your cards when the postal office workers are not too busy yet. Consider the religious philosophy and customs of your buddies or clients. Avoid offending the emotions of your recipients.

Respect the religious beliefs and culture of your friends or clients. Avoid hurting the feelings of your recipients. Write down your messages as well as the addressee and addresses on the envelopes personally. It gives the card a personal touch and shows that this is not just a matter of routine. Recipients will definitely appreciate special handwritten notes from you. Put in your return address so the recipient will know right away the identity of the sender. It will be easy for friends to send a return card which is the most possible scenario.

Avoid sending electronic cards. E-cards can never replace the traditional Christmas greeting cards although these are more affordable and can get on time because all you have to is send the digital card via email. Make sure that you send business cards to the office address of business acquaintances, customers and suppliers.

Include your business cards to add formality especially if you have not been acquainted yet with family members of the recipients. Nevertheless, send the cards to the residences of your co-workers instead of giving these in the office. This is something personal so it is proper to send out the cards to the men and women you have been working with for the past few years.

Make sure that the flap of the envelope has been sealed properly. Keep in mind that it is unethical to send cards that have not been closed properly. Check the cards carefully before sending these through mail. The messages and signatures as well as addressees and greetings must be correct or you take the risk of being embarrassed.
