Social Smoking

Individuals normally smoke hookah in a social gathering where they can have the company of their friends and family. As hookahs grew in popularity through the Middle East hundreds of years ago, it became common to find them in eating and drinking establishments. Today they are found in places from smoking parlors, to nightclubs, to the home.

Most of the increasing popularity of shisha can be ascribed to the flavor and soothing effect of the smoke. As a comparison to cigarettes, hookah smoking is done more as a social pursuit and for the flavor, instead of for any kind of biological affect. Cigarettes in contrast are addictive and provide a quick fix with a very high dose of nicotine. While a hookah session lasts longer than a cigarette, the former isn't addictive for the smoker.

Getting the Most Flavor from Your Hookah

If you wish to enhance your hookah experience, then you just have to follow a few basic acts of common sense. The first and most important thing is to clean your device routinely. You need to wash your hookah carefully using warm water after each use.

About specific tactics, it's critical to prevent the coals from burning the tobacco mid-session. Arrange the bowl in a way as to stop the tobacco from becoming stuck to the foil or screen; in fact, try not to let the tobacco to touch the foil in any way. When you're packing the bowl, leave a few millimeters between the top of your tobacco and the plane made by the rim of the bowl. Then, when you wrap the aluminum foil taught around the head, you'll naturally have the desired amount of space needed to prevent the dreaded burn. Another tactic you can use to keep distance between foil and the tobacco is to place two toothpicks in cross on the tobacco. Tobacco should not be packed down too tightly in the bowl. You need to put the tobacco in loose mound from which air can flow. Doing this, you'll be able to get a flavorful hit without needing to strongly puff on the hose. If desired you may also use two sheets of aluminum foil to help prevent against overheating. Don't burn the shisha and you will be able to enjoy a smooth and long session of smoking.
