Oil Gas Industry Safety

Higher demands for energy are equal to higher employment numbers. And due to the increasing demands of consumers for energy, an increasing rate of accidents resulting in injuries and deaths has been recorded. As such, the oil and gas industry has become attentive of the challenges pertaining to safety that the industry is facing at present time.

Aside from meeting the rising demands of consumers for energy, another great challenge being faced by the oil and gas industry is safety. Several statistics show an increasing rate on accidents, injuries and fatalities in the oil and gas industry

Because of the alarming fatality rates on the accidents in the oil and gas industry, safety improvements have been developed recently. Original and ground-breaking ways have been developed by IADC or The International Association of Drilling Contractors and SPE or The Society of Petroleum Engineers to improve the safety in the oil and gas industry.

Furthermore, IADC or The International Association of Drilling Contractors and SPE or The Society of Petroleum Engineers talks about drawing attention to oil gas safety to avoid accidents in the oil field.

OSHA resources can be utilized to help the oil and gas industry determine and identify the potential workstation hazards and present solutions for the safety programs of the oil companies. Their online resources include information for general safety, site preparation, drilling exploration, well completion, servicing and plug and abandon.

NIOSH or The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health also is a federal agency responsible for the implementation of oil gas safety policies in the industry. NIOSH performs research to ensure that accidents can be avoided.

Safety programs can definitely help avoid injuries and fatalities in any industry. Oil gas safety can ensure that a safe and productive working environment is created for the workers in the oil and gas industry.
