A Back Injection Can Help You With Pain

By Don Normans

Back pain injections are something unavoidable especially if you are to receive epidural injections or sympathetic nerve block shots for excruciating pain. Spinal blocks are very much common for women undergoing natural delivery or even C-section to relieve them form the agony of the immense pressure on their back. Besides lessening the pain, injections would also allow you to feel more alert especially after the pain has been numbed.

But back pain injections have also been said to have side effects of severe back pain after the drug wears off. Any injection directly to the spine is done on the lower back by a fine needle as to quicken the process of numbing the nerves system.

Medical researchers have yet to prove if the back pain injections are truly problematic on the back part but there are women with experiences of spinal shot complaining of pain originating from the place they have received their injections. Chances are the back pain injection is signaling a post recovery pain as the drugs numbing effects reduces which would have been caused by the needle that has penetrated the area below the spine which would indefinitely feel more painful.

Position on which the injection is administered may also be a reason for complications because the patient has to lean onto the side upon receiving the spinal shot and post recovery it would add to the pain. It would be hard to expect the patient to sleep on the back for the recovering period as the tension on the muscles should be reduced for they have undergone severe trauma with the strain.

Damaged sciatic nerves might also be a reason for why the pain is occurring. Back pain injections would be close to the central nervous system which could possibly effect the sciatic nerves therefore weak feeling, numbness an pain are expected. If the condition is continuous, getting a medical opinion is advisable.
