Tips For Finding The Right Wetsuits

By Clement C.

When in the water you will need the right protection. A good thing to do is to check out many different factors involving wetsuits. These are important in that wetsuits can work with all sorts of water activities.

The neoprene that is used in the wetsuit is the first thing for you to see. Neoprene is used primarily as a material that works with adding to the flexibility of wetsuit. Different levels of neoprene are used for different wetsuit models though. There are full neoprene suits that have this material around the entire suit. There are also thirty percent suits that work with only the arms and shoulders plus the back.

Neoprene can be very important as well because of how it is able to repel water. The suit's qualities will be able to help to keep water out of the suit. When this works the body can stay warm while being in the water.

The next part of a wetsuit to watch for is the thickness of the wetsuit. Thickness is easily listed on a typical wetsuit for specifying how many millimeters thick it is. The first thickness number relates to thickness in the torso and the second number is for the limbs. An example to use is to consider how a 4/3mm suit works. With this suit the torso and limb areas have respective thickness levels of four and three millimeters.

The temperature of the water that you will be in is important to watch for. If you are going to be in colder water you will need a thicker wetsuit. For instance, in water that is sixty degrees Fahrenheit a 3/2mm suit will be best. You will need to consider this for your general comfort in the water.

The seams that a wetsuit uses can make a difference as well. There are numerous options to check out along these seams. The flatlock stitched seam is a popular choice for wetsuits used in warm weather. It feels flat and is very comfortable. Water can move into the suit at some times though.

For colder temperatures the use of sealed seams can help. With these types seams are glued first and are then stitched. Some seams in this case are taped together in the inside. This option is one that will keep from getting water to move into the suit.

Finally it is important to watch for the zippers that a wetsuit uses. You should watch for how long a zipper on a wetsuit is. This is because of how shorter zippers allow for greater flexibility for the user. Even with this wetsuits with shorter zippers can be tough to get on. Be sure to watch for the zipper's barrier because it should keep water from getting into the suit.

Be sure to check out all of these parts of wetsuits when finding one for your water needs. The neoprene, thickness and seams that are used are all important factors. When considering them it can be easy to find a good suit for your needs.
