Tips to Make Your Long Distance Relationship Last

By Max Petari

It's really hard to get through a long distance relationship, though with work, you can definitely make some work. Sometimes our loved ones live in different places. It might be because of school, a new job, or some other reason. Regardless, this is always a hard thing to deal with.

Many long distance relationships fail. Whether yours will endure or not really depends on your unique situation. Having said that, I've seen many fail and they generally fail for the same reasons. Listen to my advice closely and you'll be in a much better position.

I know that some of this may not seem easy to do, but it's something that you should definitely consider for the sake of your relationship's chances of working. I can say this from experience, as I've made some of the mistakes that I'll ask you to avoid.

This isn't a mistake as much as something you need to figure out a way to do, but you must see each other as often as possible. Not seeing each other only makes one of you wonder if things are worth continuing.

Whatever it is, try to make it as often as you can. They say that distance makes the heart grow fonder, and this is true to some extent, but the phrase "out of sight, out of mind" also holds truth and you don't want to end up being shelved for someone readily accessible in the other city.

Another tip is to never get angry at your significant other for hanging out with other people. The last thing you want to be is that controlling boyfriend or girlfriend, as this could often lead to rebellion. You don't want your loved one to feel like a prisoner.

It'll sometimes be hard to know that your loved one is in another city and might be around other singles, but this is something that comes with the territory.
