How To Develop A Photographic Memory

By Sarah Barnes

Memorizing every bit of our daily activities is almost an impossible task. We can only achieve it by developing a photographic memory. By doing this, our ability to retain knowledge will be augmented. We will also have an aptitude to properly mingle with other people in our social circles. This essential skill can be honed in the following ways.

The most essential thing one ought to do in order to hone a vivid memory is tackling any form of depression. Melancholy limits our mental capacity because feelings such as anxiety, anger and other stress related condition augment the levels of cortisol in the human brain. This harms the hippocampus, which is the part whose responsibility is reminiscence.

Just as it is the case with body muscles, the brain needs constant activation through exercises that challenge our intellectual capacity. When left inactive, it is likely to slip into a form of hibernation. Certain activities play a role in enhancing its capacity. These include taking part in board games, filling code word puzzles and wide readership. Introducing the organ to fresh things increases its alertness thus augmenting its memorability.

Taking part in light exercises such as jogging also reinvigorates our memories. When engaging in the exercises, blood and oxygen uptake into the brain increases. Brain cells are thus stimulated, making them to function optimally. When they are made active, our ability to commit things to memory also intensifies.

The effect of alcoholic drinks of the intellect is adversely documented. To enhance the capacity of this organ, it is important to minimize the intake of alcohol, if not keeping off completely. Regular excessive consumption of liquor inhibits the organs ability to create mental memorabilia. In addition, it releases toxic steroids, which slow down essential receptors found in the organ.

Minimizing distractions in our daily lives especially when we are in the learning process helps us remember more. Forgetting is never always as a result of poor memory. It is often caused by distractions. This makes the brain register memories in bits and parts, which causes blurred memories and forgetfulness. Multitasking should also be avoided when one wants to develop a imagery memory because it is difficult to retain information. Carrying out activities individually helps us commit them to memory one at a time.

Poring over newly known words and peoples names boosts our ability to remember them afterwards. When getting into the first contact with new things or people, great significance lies in making mental notes of them and later going through them by linking those names to things we have awareness to.

Clumping figures, words, or objects together in a list helps us recall them at a later time. This can be done by putting them in distinctive categories. When we remember the categories, we are likely to remember what was contained in them.
