Taking Good Care Of Black Bamboo Plants In Pots

Growing bamboo in pots or other containers makes an enthralling feature. The colors and the shapes of containers used in growing bamboo are limitless. When placing the container in the garden the fear of it taking the garden is reduced because it acts as a barrier hence the chances of roots moving to the garden are reduced. They do well when planted in vessels irrespective of the species. Another important thing to note is that different species have different rate of growth. Species that have high growth rate, their roots are likely to bind to the pot after a short duration of time. This is an important factor to consider when choosing the species.

Sunlight really affects their rate of growth. Different types have different requirements of sunlight. If you intend to keep them within the room, choose that does not require a lot of sunlight. Choose the smaller ones if the space within the room is limited. Never choose tall ones if you intend to place them within the room.

If one goes for a running type, it is likely to grow at a phenomenal speed and becomes tall enough within a short duration of time. On the other hand, the roots become bound to the container after a short period of time undermining its health. The clumping type grows at a very low rate and takes longer period of time before becoming root bound to the pot.

When roots have occupied almost the entire space within the container, one needs to find the way out to prevent it from drying. Dividing is normally done so as to save it. During this case, the numbers of roots are reduced and the new fresh soil filled into the container. It is normally advisable to be done when the rate of growth is less especially during winter and the spring.

When performing reporting, the containers are exchanged so as to create enough room for the growing bamboo. When the weather is very cold, one needs to insulate the vessel to help it cope with the changing temperatures. Frequent watering may save it from drying. Plant lose excess water during the summer, and add as much water as possible otherwise it might dry up.

Regular watering during winters is recommended to help it acquire enough water. During hot periods, it is advisable to keep watering them. This is because there is too much evaporation and also the roots are close to the surface. Normally, the size of plant is determined by the size of root ball. Those with smaller root balls results into smaller ones.

When acquiring a nice vessel for the plant go for which will enhance stability once planted. Consider a shorter one which is which is wide. This helps in maintaining the stability. Some people do fill the container with rocks at the bottom to enhance the stability. Choose the color of interest.
